US 3G Group Enters Qingdao (2008-01-02)

A memo of strategic cooperation was signed between US 3G Group and Hiking Group for establishing a joint-venture investment company oriented toward small and medium-sized enterprise investment (SMEs) in China. US 3G Group, an internationally recognized strategic management and private placement investment group, recently entered the China market by acquiring Qingdao China Partners Investment Advisory Co., Ltd. Moreover, US 3G Group China Company formally started business in Qingdao Software Park. A Company principal said choosing Qingdao Software Park as its China headquarters was an attempt to get closer to a large number of Qingdao high-tech enterprises and provide them with flexible and time-efficient service.

Hana Bank establishes local corporation in China (2008-01-02)

On December 27, Hana Bank held an opening ceremony for Hana Bank China Co., Ltd., its local China corporation, in Beijing to regularly develop business for local clients in China. The registered capital of Hana Bank China Co., Ltd. amounted to RMB2 billion. At present, Hana Bank has seven branches in China, including a newly established Beijing Branch, business department head office, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qingdao and Yantai branches that have undergone system transformation, and a Qingdao Chengyang Branch. Hana Bank is planning to add branches in Harbin, Tianjin, Dalian, and other cities by 2012.

German Linde Group Expected to Invest in Wuhan New Chemical Industry City (2008-12-29)

Large-scale Shipbuilding Project with Total Investment Near USD100m Settled in Zhao'an (2008-12-29)

News from Fujian Provincial Department of Foreign Economic and Trade revealed that a large-scale shipbuilding project with total investment near USD100m settled in Zhao'an County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. This is the largest port project ever in Zhao'an County. Singapore Hongying Group offered a total investment of USD 99.8m. With about 700m of shoreline and 100 mu of land, it will mainly be used for shipbuilding, oil drilling platform production, and wharf construction.

Fiat Invests EUR22m in Shanghai R&D Center (2008-12-24)

Recently, Fiat Powertrain Technologies broke ground on its Fiat Powertrain Technologies R&D Shanghai center. Its investment in the R&D center totals EUR22m. The center will be put into operation by the end of 2008 and will focus on gasoline, diesel engines and gear boxes. It is the biggest Fiat Powertrain Technologies R&D in the world.

Andrew Liveris, President and CEO of Dow Chemical Company, revealed that their cooperation with Shenhua Group could be the largest project ever among all foreign investors in China.

Bayer to Apply Innovative Technology in Chinese Market (2008-12-18)

German enterprise Bayer Group, which received the global 'Low Carbon Leaders Award,' made a decision to increase investment in China to promote ''Bayer climate change'' in order to adapt to Chinese energy saving and emission reduction development targets. In order to meet the strong growth of TDI demand internationally and in Asian & Pacific area, Bayer Material Science Group has planned to raise TDI production capacity in Shanghai integrated base from 160m tons to 300m tons.

Fiat Set Up R&D Center in Shanghai (2008-12-17)

Sources from Italian ANSA agency, said Fiat Powertrain Technologies Holding Co. held a ground breaking ceremony for Fiat Powertrain Technologies Shanghai R&D Center in Shanghai. The total investment in the R&D center was EUR22m. This center will be officially put into operation by the end of 2008. By then over 100 engineers and senior technicians will be hired to ensure an efficient operation of the R&D center.

Mittal Steel Merged Chinese Steel Company (2008-12-17)

As reported by Pakistan's DAWN on 14th, the world's largest steel manufacturer, Mittal Steel, announced that they agreed to merge China Oriental Steel Company, in order to further expand the largest steel market across the world on Thursday. Declarations of both companies have revealed that this merger would let Mittal Steel raise its shares in this HK listed company from 28.02% to 73.13%. The entire merger will cost about USD1b.

IBK Set Up Branch in Suzhou (2007-12-10)

 As reported by YonhapNews World Service, South Korean IBK set up a branch in Suzhou city and started business. Suzhou branch is the fifth IBK branch in China and will provide financial services to over 2500 South Korean enterprises in Jiangsu Province and Shanghai. Siemens Nokia Company Sets Up Mobile Telecom Research Center in China (2007-12-07)

Italian Media Thought the Start of Three Euro Giants China Visit Was Good (2007-12-04)

As reported by Il Sole 24 ORE, Jean-Claude Trichet, President of European Central Bank, Joaquin Almunia, Commissioner of EU Economic and Monetary Affair, and Jean-Claude Juncker, Chairman of Eurogroup talked with Zhou Xiaochuan, President of the People's Bank of China. Both parties expressed hopes of jointly accelerating the adjustment of economic structure and avoiding substantial foreign exchange fluctuation to promote global trade balance.  GM Announces 25% Growth Rate of Annual Purchasing in China During 2005 to 2010 (2007-12-04)

Bo Andersson, Vice President of General Motors Global Purchasing and Supplier Chain declared on Nov.30 that the annual purchasing growth rate of their company in China stayed at 25% between 2005 and 2010. Bo Andersson revealed that China is the fastest growing purchasing market for GM and currently they had 190 suppliers with monthly 20m pieces of parts being purchased in China for export.

Germany Norma (China) Group Settles in Qingdao (2007-11-29) As introduced, this is the first foreign-invested enterprise registered under “China” in Qingdao Municipality with the investment of USD 12m, and it will be accomplished and put into production in Apr. 2008. Upon the construction of the company, Qingdao will be a vital global production base and R&D center for Norma Group, who is estimating that its output value will reach USD 60m within three or five years.

Jiangsu Foreign-funded Software Industry Develops Rapidly in Past Five Years (2007-11-28)

Since 2003, Jiangsu has approved 1326 new foreign-invested software enterprises. This number is 12 times of that in the past five years. The newly approved investment was USD12.67b, 36 times, and contractual foreign capital of USD5.83b, 31 times of that in the past five years. HSBC Plans to Increase Outlets from 53 to 85 in China Next Year (2007-11-28)

On Nov.26, the logistisc giant DHL and Shanghai Airport Group signed a formal agreement on investment of the hub of DHL in Northern Asia at Pudong International Airport. Until now the location of DHL hub in Northern Asia had not been officially disclosed. Siemens to Build Up a “Shanghai Center” with RMB710m (2007-11-28)

Recently, Siemens and Shanghai Yangpu District signed a letter of intent for cooperation on “energy conservation project for government office building of Yangpu District”. This is the first time Siemens has established a cooperation partnership with Shanghai district government on providing innovative “green environmental protection” technology for office building of the district government. This center is located at Shanghai Yangpu District and is the East China headquarters funded by Siemens with RMB710m investment.

Currently 34 Fortune 500 Enterprises are Settled in Heilongjiang (2007-11-27)

As of now there are 44 projects of 34 "Fortune 500" enterprises such as Nestle, CocaCola and Wal-Mart having settled in Heilongjiang. Foreign-invested fields include food, circulation, processing, manufacturing and so on. Recently, the regional headquarter of British Sugar, which is under Associated British Foods plc, settled in Heilongjiang, setting a historic record of introducing regional headquarters of Fortune 500 enterprises in Heilongjiang Province.

Italian Zenit Company Settles in Suzhou Industrial Zone (2007-11-27)
