XIAMEN -- Eight Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries on Wednesday held an anti-cyber-terrorism joint drill in Xiamen, Fujian Province, southeast China.

The drill was designed to improve coordination and share experiences among SCO members of counter cyber-terrorism efforts, according to a statement from SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS).

Delegates from SCO members and the RATS executive committee took part in the drill, which was based on a scenario related to an international terrorist group that had infiltrated into SC0 countries.

Through the exercise, SCO members increased trust and improved counter-terrorism cooperation, said Shi Jun, vice minister of public security, at the drill.

It has been the first joint anti-terrorism drill attended by eight members since India and Pakistan joined the SCO in June, said Yevgeniy Sysoyev, director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee.

At the drill, SCO members displayed their resolve and ability to act against terrorism, separatism and extremism, which was of great significance for the region to actively respond to new challenges, Sysoyev said.
