Work is underway at 301-meter-long Ban Somsanook No 2 Tunnel on Dec 12. It's the first tunnel constructed on the China-Laos railway line in Laos' Vientiane province. Construction of the track began in December 2016 and bridges, roadbed and other sections are progressing smoothly. The railway, stretching 418 kilometers from Kunming, the capital of Southwest China’s Yunnan province, to the Laotian capital of Vientiane, is expected to open to traffic in December 2021.
