Chinese landmarks turn green for St. Patrick's Day
"Earlier this year, 18 buildings in Ireland turned red this year to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year. Red means much to Chinese people, just like green to Irish people. The mutual lighting events are a reflection of the friendly Sino-Ireland relationship," Coveney said.
"Nine years ago, Tourism Ireland launched Ireland's Global Greening event, and I am pleased to see an increasing number of landmarks and scenic attractions have become a part. The success of the event is due to huge support from Irish people all over the world, especially from Irish embassies and overseas immigrants," Tourism Ireland President Niall Gibbons said.
"At present, over 70 million people have been connected with our country, and the celebration day acts as a bridge-builder between Ireland and them," he added.
