Snowy Austria: a pivotal role in winter sports

Editor’s note: Austria, a traditional winter sports wonderland, has come to the attention of more and more Chinese people, as China and Austria have been deepening cooperation in winter sports industry in preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Austria has long established itself as a top destination for winter sports, with snowcapped peaks, icy valleys, powder-fresh snow and great hospitality.

As the birthplace of skiing in the Alps region, Austria also boasts cutting-edge technologies in skiing equipment, cableways and trails.

With such superb conditions, the country has played a pivotal role in winter sports, and hosted two Winter Olympics, two Winter Paralympics and the first Winter Youth Olympics.

As Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz are visiting China from Saturday to April 12, let’s take a look at the huge variety of winter sports in Austria and its gracious snow-covered resorts.
