As more young people choose to be artists, they demand greater exposure for their works, whether through public platforms like national museums or private channels such as galleries and fairs.

The National Art Museum of China is hosting through April 13 the exhibition Carve the Era, which is dedicated to recent sculptures by up-and-coming artists.

On show are more than 130 works by 28 sculptors from across the nation, and many have exhibited at home and abroad.

Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum, says the works display a break with an elite mindset by artists today, who are more representative of ordinary people and seek more possibilities of expression to communicate with the general public.
