No 4 Bamei: Hidden town in SW China

This photo taken Nov 4, 2007, shows the entrance to Bamei township of Daofu county in the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Garze, Southwest China's Yunnan province. [Photo/IC]

Bamei is a partially closed town in a remote area of Yunnan province, which makes it hard to reach the outside world. The town is surrounded by mountains and has no highways that enter it. To pass in and out, villagers must travel on bamboo rafts through a water tunnel several kilometers long.
