Kuwaiti ambassador says friendship with China to be elevated soon

Kuwait's ambassador to China, Samih Johar Hayat, said that Chinese officials were enthusiastic about conducting a feasibility study regarding economic investments in Kuwaiti islands.

Last week, officials of Kuwait's department for developing the Silk City and Boubyan Island held talks with Chinese officials, who expressed readiness to cooperate in investing on Kuwaiti islands.

This round of talks focused on coordination to restore "the Silk Road" and the strategic Kuwaiti-Chinese ties will be elevated significantly as a number of agreements in key sectors are to be signed by the two countries, he said.

Kuwait's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative depicts the vision of the Kuwaiti emir, the country's head of state, to transform Kuwait into a hub at the financial, commercial and cultural level, the ambassador said.
