Chinese, Belarusian officials meet on bilateral cooperation

BEIJING - China hopes to strengthen cooperation with Belarus, a senior Chinese official said Monday.

Guo Shengkun, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Nikolay Snopkov, deputy director of the Belarusian presidential office.

Guo, who is also Chinese chairman of the two countries' Intergovernmental Committee of Cooperation, told Snopkov, also Belarusian chairman of the committee, that the concept of "building a community with a shared future for mankind" proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the consensus reached by the two countries' heads of state during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit had opened up bright prospects for bilateral cooperation.

President Xi Sunday met with visiting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the east China coastal city of Qingdao during the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

Guo expressed his hope that the two sides would make good use of the mechanism of the cooperation committee, push forward cooperation in various fields and Belt and Road construction, and turn the consensus of the two leaders into concrete achievements, to benefit the two peoples.
