Heat wave continues; break is coming

Sun Jun, chief forecaster with the observatory, said temperatures will cool from Wednesday to Friday in most regions in southern China except the Sichuan basin, which covers central and eastern Sichuan and most areas of Chongqing. In the north, scorching temperatures will come to an end on Sunday in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and some areas in Shandong and Liaoning provinces and Inner Mongolia.

High temperatures in East China may be relieved as tropical storm Jongdari approaches the coastal area on Wednesday and lands on Friday, Sun said.
