China's Mengniu opens dairy factory in Indonesia

JAKARTA - China's leading dairy firm Mengniu on Thursday opened a factory in Indonesia's West Java province's Cikarang industrial zone.

In his remarks to address the opening of Mengniu's first factory in Southeast Asia, Mengniu Dairy Corporation Global Chief Executive Officer Lu Minfang said developing a healthy lifestyle and positive economic growth trend were part of Mengniu's considerations to open its factory in Indonesia.

He said Mengniu planned to officially sell dairy products under its YoyiC brand in Indonesia on Dec 1.

Projects to build the factory in Cikarang industrial zone was commenced in March 2018. The factory is expected to produce 1,000 jobs within five years.

In its initial operation, the Mengniu facility produces YoyiC liquid yogurt, probiotic drink and yogurt dessert.
