China and Kenya strengthen cooperation on education

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Kenya's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding on the future development of the Sino-Africa Joint Research Centre (SAJOREC).

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Amina Mohammed, MOEST cabinet Secretary said the memorandum will foster cooperation in science, technology and innovation between China and Kenya.

Referring to the establishment of SAJOREC at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Amina said research in sustainable natural resources conservation will be enhanced, as well as the development of bio-medicine for universal health and modern agricultural techniques.

Amina said Kenya has placed science, research and innovation at the heart of socio-economic development, adding that the collaboration between the ministry and CAS constitutes a core strand in delivering the Kenya's priorities.
