He added that for the sustainable development of the organization, it will be important to register it with the support of MOEST as a non-profit international institution in Kenya for collaboration in scientific research with the entire African continent.

"It will be helpful for SAJOREC to open its own account, to employ local staff, and to issue letters of invitation to international visitors," he said.

Established in 2013, SAJOREC is one of nine international centres of excellence established by CAS for collaboration in science and capacity building in developing countries.

Under the umbrella of these centres, CAS has provided more than 1,000 scholarships to international students from the Belt and Road region to study for masters and PhD degrees at CAS.

CAS has also trained over 2,800 scientific professionals and carried out 100 collaborative research projects with partners from the region. All these centres are open for international collaboration in research and education.

Scientists from around the world may apply to use the lab facilities at the centres for joint research programs.
