BEIJING -- China's top legislature will hold a two-day session at the end of January and is expected to continue the review of a draft law on foreign investment.

The eighth session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) is scheduled for Jan 29-30, said a statement issued after a NPC Standing Committee chairpersons' meeting Wednesday.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

The meeting suggested the draft foreign investment law be deliberated at the legislative session.

It will be the second reading of the draft, which was submitted to the top legislature for its first review in late December 2018. It aims to adopt a model of pre-establishment national treatment with a negative list and will strengthen protection of the property rights of companies with foreign investments.

The legislative session will also review decisions on personnel appointments and dismissals.
