Wang, 23, hadn't seen her husband for about eight months, so decided to pay him a visit before Spring Festival, which falls on Feb 5 this year.

"I am the wife of a frontier guard and I should go to see the frontier myself," Wang said.

But she never expected such a challenging journey to reach the post. On Jan 10, she first flew to Tibetan capital, Lhasa. Suffering severe altitude sickness, she climbed five snowy mountains over 4,500 meters above sea level via SUV in two days.

"The road was so dangerous and I was so sick. I held the handrail so tight that my hands were sweaty," she said.
