Vincent Kwakye Omane from Ghana is a sophomore at Dalian Medical University in Northeast China's Liaoning province.

This winter vacation Vincent will return to his hometown and bring with him gifts for his family, like traditional Chinese sausage, preserved meats, hot pot base, shisanxiang (fragrant spices), latiao (spice strips), and zhacai (preserved vegetables).

He buys all of these gifts online. Online shopping is one of reasons he loves China, Vincent said.

Since he learned to use Taobao, an online shopping platform in China, Vincent has spent 20,000 yuan ($2,978) on the site over the past year and a half.

Vincent recently helped a fellow student to use Taobao for the first time. He says that he taught her how to use Taobao in 10 minutes, and now she can't stop shopping online.
