Chinese shares surge on Monday

Chinese shares surged on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.68 percent to close at 2,754.36 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index picked up 3.95 percent, ending at 8,446.92 points.

All sectors at the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges witnessed rising stocks, with more than 110 stocks increasing by the daily 10 percent limit.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, rose 4.11 percent to 1,413.31 points, for the first time reaching 1,400 points since mid-November last year.
