Pu Bo, former vice-governor of Guizhou province, pleaded guilty on Thursday for taking bribes as he stood trial at Nanjing Intermediate People's Court.

Pu was accused of taking advantage of his various positions in Sichuan province, including the vice-mayor of Guang’an city, the mayor of Bazhong city, the Party chief of Deyang city, to assist others in corporate restructuring, project contracting, and personal promotion from 1999 to 2017.

In turn, he accepted money and property worth a total of 71.26 million yuan ($10.6 million).

Born in 1963, Pu was appointed as the vice-mayor of Guangan city in 1999, and became the Party chief of Deyang city in 2015. He took the position of vice-governor of Guizhou province in January 2018.

He was placed under investigation in May 2018 and expelled from public office in early November. On Nov 28, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate made the decision to arrest Pu for taking bribes.

A verdict will be issued at a later date.
