Kashgar artist showcases landscapes in Beijing

His ongoing exhibition at Beijing's Ici Labas gallery, Art from West China, which runs through April 20, is a celebration of the enduring charms of historic towns, desert poplars and people through a display of 70 works.

Speaking about his works, he says: "People often ask me, 'Is Xinjiang really a beautiful place (like in your paintings)?'"

And he says: "It is my hometown. The landscape is arresting, the colors and the food are enthralling, and people are happy there."
