The Tianjin cyberspace affairs authority decided to punish Chinese image provider vcg.com with heavier fines, due to the fact that the firm published pictures with sensitive and harmful information.
Earlier, Visual China was caught falsely claiming it held a copyright to the black hole pictures. Moreover, the company was questioned about whether it had the right to sell images of the national flag and national emblem on its website.
On April 11, the company closed its website and released a statement, saying the company had management problems and closed the website for rectification.
