Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia Technology Co Ltd has unveiled a gaming mobile phone, the Red Magic 3, with an aim to take gaming smartphones to the next level by introducing an active cooling setup inside the unit.

Priced from 2,899 yuan ($431), the Red Magic is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 chipset and a massive 5000mAh capacity battery. It features a 6.65-inch full HD and AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

The phone also has an active cooling system with a moving fan inside the device. Nubia claims the fan has ultra-low power consumption and can work continuously for one hour, consuming less than one percent of power.

There are touch-sensitive shoulder triggers, which act like a gamepad accessory without additional hardware. These can be customized to suit the needs of specific games. The phone will be available for purchase in China starting May 3.

China is the largest gaming market in the world, with a thriving esports industry expected to bring in about $210 million of revenue in 2019, according to market research firm Newzoo. This propels the rapid growth of gaming phones.

In addition, Newzoo predicted in the coming year $897.2 million of global esports revenue will come from brand investments such as media rights, advertising and sponsorships.

In early April, the Shenzhen-based company unveiled its first wearable watch-like smartphone Alpha, which features a four-inch flexible screen manufactured by Visionox Co Ltd, an OLED supplier. The Alpha has all the features and functionality of a phone but wraps around the wrist like a smartwatch.
