While Chinese people are embracing a cashless society with the widespread use of mobile payment, the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the central bank, announced on April 29 it has upgraded the fifth edition of the renminbi, the Chinese currency, and will issue the new batch from Aug 30.

The designs of renminbi notes with different face values have seen several changes in the past years. In the fifth edition, the backs of the renminbi notes feature pictures of China's spectacular landscapes and scenic spots.

Let's follow the renminbi notes to take a scenic journey.
