The new report of OECD, Going for Growth 2019, was released on July 12.

This year, for the first time, the OECD Going for Growth report includes environment sustainability considerations when setting national priorities and recommending policy actions.

The 2019 edition, which was released on July 12, presents the top structural reform priorities that policy makers in 46 OECD and non-OECD economies should support stronger and more sustainable growth, improve competitiveness and productivity, create jobs and ensure that economic gains benefit the vast majority of citizens.

"The time for reform is now, for better lives today and for future generations", Laurence Boone, the OECD Chief Economist was cited in the report.

Besides, Going for Growth also points out that the pace of reform is not fast enough, that pro-growth policies should be designed so that they promote equal opportunities, and that reviving productivity growth is crucial to boosting incomes in the long term.

As increasing greenhouse gas emissions, ocean pollution and biodiversity loss are becoming major challenges to the international community, the report for the first time calls for urgent action to prevent environmental degradation and its associated long-term effects.

As a result, most countries, including key polluters, have reform priorities and recommendations, which aim to address both growth and environmental bottlenecks.

The new report also stresses that growth has to be environmentally sustainable. And it guides policy makers to attach great importance to the well-being of their citizens to achieve strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.
