China's first night safari begins trial operation

The first night wild animal park in the country began its trial operation on August 8 at Shanghai Wild Animal Park.

Located in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, the new night park, which has more than 100 species of animals, opens at 9 pm.

During the trial period, the pedestrian zone, the water adventure facility, the Night Animal Tour and the Ferris wheel – it is the largest in Shanghai - will be open to visitors. The drive-through section will still not be available.

The zoo, which uses special light that is not disruptive to the animals’ nocturnal activities, offers six animal-themed exhibition areas, three performances, animal-themed restaurants and a host of souvenirs stores.
