The nine-day festival brings together 22 Ulan Muqir art troupes from places including Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang, showcasing outstanding works created by Ulan Muqir artists in recent years. Ulan Muqir, or Red Bud Troupe, is the Mongolian name for a troupe that travels from one grazing site to another, performing for herdsmen who live in some of China's most remote areas.
