A recent ceremony launching a public welfare project, "Mom Hand-works", aims to help local women lead happier lives through traditional cultural handicrafts.

From August 22 to 24, the Non-intangible Cultural Heritage Festival was held in Danzhai county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, with the hopes of promoting poverty alleviation and innovation by exploring an "intangible heritage, cultural creation and poverty alleviation" model.

The "Mom Hand-works" project will combine Danzhai's batik, silver ornaments, ancient paper-making skills with other inherited cultural techniques to help low-income women find employment at home and promote the learning of intangible cultural heritage skills.
