Reception marks PRC's anniversary
Ambassador: China will be committed to self-improvement but not bullying
With steady and sustained development of China-UK relations envisioned, the Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom on Monday called for both nations to sustain mutual respect, open cooperation, inclusiveness, mutual learning and shoulder due responsibilities as major countries for the well-being of all mankind.
Ambassador Liu Xiaoming made the remarks at a reception in London on Monday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The reception is among China's most important UK public diplomatic events on this year's calendar. It gathered dignitaries, key implementers, and movers and shakers of the burgeoning China-UK relationship to the landmark Guildhall in the heart of London.
Stressing that Chinese people have created an economic miracle through hard work, the ambassador reflected on China's tremendous achievements over the past seven decades.
According to the up-to-date facts, nearly 98 percent of Fortune Global 500 companies have investments in China and 129 Chinese companies made them to the 2019 Fortune Global 500 list. For the first time, China has overtaken the United States in the number of listed companies.
