BEIJING -- A story database called "China Story" (www.chinastory.cn) was launched on Friday.

The database is sponsored by China's Xinhua News Agency and jointly organized by online search engine Chinaso.com.

More than 60,000 stories about China are indexed in the database in the forms of texts, photographs and videos, making the database a new platform for audiences from home and abroad to better understand China, the organizers said.

The database provides stories on Chinese leader Xi Jinping, as well as stories on four other themes: the governance of China, the realization of the Chinese dream, traditional Chinese culture and win-win cooperation.

The database can be accessed online in both Chinese and English languages and also through a mobile app which enables the speaker function to read out the stories, according to the organizers.
