Beijing and Washington are to hold another round of high-level talks in Washington in early October to address their trade disputes, after 12 rounds of such meetings failed to reach an agreement.

Vice-Premier Liu He had a phone conversation with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Sept 5, according to the Ministry of Commerce of China.

The two sides agreed to take concrete action to create favorable conditions for bilateral consultations, the ministry said in a statement.
