Senior CPC official urges effective supervision to implement key strategy

HAIKOU - A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has stressed efforts to promote the implementation of key strategies set by the CPC Central Committee through vigorous and effective discipline inspection and supervision.

Zhao Leji, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the instruction during his investigation and research trip in south China's Hainan Province from Thursday to Saturday.

He pointed out that anti-corruption work has to be carried throughout the building of the pilot free trade zone and the free trade port with Chinese characteristics in Hainan.

In April 2018, China unveiled guidelines on supporting Hainan to deepen reform and opening up, with details on turning it into a pilot free trade zone and creating a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.

Supervision has to be strengthened from the planning stage and conducted throughout the whole process, said Zhao, adding that supervision should focus on improve the political ecosystem and the business environment.

While visiting a village and an urban community, he called for enhanced supervision on cadres at the primary level and continued crackdown on corruption in poverty alleviation and corruption related to gang crimes.

He also urged discipline inspection and supervisory organs in Hainan to improve self-supervision and subject themselves to strict supervision.
