The Birdcage Cultural Museum opened on Oct 18 in Gucheng town, Chengdu city, Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The museum has over 1,000 birdcages in total across three floors. The first floor introduces four categories of birdcages in China and samples from each. The second floor shows some exquisite birdcages and an experience zone for visitors to learn how to make their own birdcages. The third floor has a master's studio and a handicraft display area.

Birdcage-making has been listed as a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage in Sichuan, and Gucheng claims to be "the hometown of Chinese birdcages" in western China. Several hundred local people are still engaged in this industry.
