Sri Lanka's presidential election

The 2019 Sri Lankan presidential election, also the eighth presidential election, is scheduled to be held on Nov 16.

A total of 35 candidates will contest the election, while over 16 million people will cast their votes.

The incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena's term of office will end on Jan 9, 2020. This is the first presidential election in Sri Lanka where no sitting president, prime minister or opposition leader is contesting for president.
