NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition of Chinese traditional calligraphy artworks incorporating blockchain and Virtual Reality technology application opened at the Harvard Club of New York City on Monday.

The exhibit, running from Monday to Tuesday at the Club's Cambridge Room, features dozens of calligraphy by renowned Chinese calligraphy artist Tao Fo, whose works were first exhibited in New York City in September 2014.

Each of Fo's artworks in the show is authenticated via the blockchain technology developed by UBI Blockchain Internet Ltd., said Tony Liu, founder of the company based in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, at the opening ceremony held on Monday morning.

When blockchain technology is applied to an artwork, a unique and unforgeable electronic identity or code records about its ownership, originality and transaction history will be established, Liu said.

At the exhibit, visitors are able to scan a QR code with their smart phone and view the data of each piece of art, which had been recorded in the counterfeit-proof blockchain distributed database.

The viewers are also able to experience the exhibited calligraphy works via Virtual Reality and learn more about the work's creating process and artistic concepts.

The exhibition was co-organized by Harvard Wealth Strategy and Management LLC, ZiJinWanXiang (Beijing) International Cultural Media Center and UBI Blockchain Internet Ltd..

UBI Blockchain Internet Ltd., established in 2016, has been developing blockchain technology applications to solve the issues related to safety, quality, and counterfeit occurred in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, finance, energy, culture and art.
