Hong Kong will always be an inseparable part of China

China resumed its exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong on July 1, 1997. Twenty-two years have passed. Hong Kong has not only freed itself from colonizers' oppression but also witnessed long-term prosperity and development. Under the support of the central government, Hong Kong is sharing the dividends of reform and opening-up and co-shouldering the responsibilities for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with the Chinese mainland.

Western powers battered China's door with warships and cannons, forcing the Qing-dynasty (1644-1911) rulers to cede its territory and pay unreasonable indemnities. Hong Kong was wantonly bullied at that time. This deep sorrow has cultivated China's national spirit of resilience: In all circumstances, Hong Kong is always an inseparable part of China.

Some Western politicians, especially those from the United States, cannot accept China's rise. Such a mentality has contributed to their irrational Beijing policy. But whether armed aggression or sanctions, Western policy against New China has repeatedly failed.

In modern times, the West has exerted every possible means to stifle China from growing. It strained every nerve to stir up trouble in Hong Kong with a malicious intention to contain China.

But whatever happens, Hong Kong is always a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China.
