Chery Jaguar Land Rover hopes new model appealing to young customers

Giving ear to "the voice of China", Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive, British premium carmaker Jaguar Land Rover's Chinese joint venture, launched its all-new Jaguar XEL on Nov 29 in Shanghai.

"The all-new Jaguar XEL has been fully upgraded, getting refined internally and externally. We have made significant improvements to its interior and exterior designs and upgraded its intelligent connectivity technologies," said Chris Chen, vice-president of Chery Jaguar Land Rover.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover listens to not only "the voice of customers", but also "the voice of China", meaning the automaker attaches importance to the country's industry policies and technological advancement, such as the 5G and smart pay Chen added.

To meet young customers' preferences, the automaker has taken the lead by offering two versions of the new Jaguar XEL, elegant and sporty, according to Chery Jaguar Land Rover.

Coupled with advanced interactive systems, a 12.3-inch high-definition virtual dashboard and a super-wide-angle rearview mirror, the new Jaguar XEL is committed to providing customers with exquisite experiences and convenient handling, the automaker said.

With suggested retail prices ranging from 289,800 yuan to 380,600 yuan ($41,109.88 to $53,990.41), the new model targets the urban younger generation and demonstrates Chery Jaguar Land Rover's capability in manufacturing techniques and quality control.

The all-new Jaguar XEL is produced at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover plant in Changshu, Jiangsu province. The plant has established a complete operating system covering research and development, purchasing, manufacturing, quality control, marketing and personnel management.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Changshu plant pays close attention to improving its manufacturing techniques and quality control, especially from the perspective of hardware and software, Chen said.

The plant is equipped with four world-leading manufacturing workshops, which are the stamping, welding, coating and final assembly workshops.

The final assembly workshop is an example of the plant's intelligent manufacturing, which has a complete quality control system for components and parts.

In addition, the Changshu plant is capable of producing 55 to 75 kinds of components and parts, contributing to the improvement of the finished automobiles' quality.

"Chery Jaguar Land Rover is committed to promoting the intelligent manufacturing and striving to become a new model in China's high-end automotive manufacturing industry," Chen said.

When it comes to the software, Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Changshu plant takes full advantage of industrial internet and intelligent connectivity technologies, so as to achieve the traceability of its products during the processes of supply, production and delivery.
