The Summer Palace in Beijing recently issued its first official calendar, featuring photos that depict the imperial garden's breathtaking and ever-changing scenery through the year. It also shows the diversity of classic architecture and architectural structures at this UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as knowledge of China's 24 solar terms. The solar terms are the system ancient Chinese relied on to keep pace with the change of seasons while farming and keeping daily routines.

The calendar was issued on Thursday, which was International Volunteer Day. The UN general assembly made the designation to promote volunteer services.

Volunteers working at the Summer Palace on Thursday provided guided tours and presented calendars as gifts to visitors.

In 2019, authorized volunteers provided more than 20,000 hours of service at the Summer Palace.
