An international cybersecurity "capture-the-flag" event kicked off in Beijing on Dec 7, attracting 12 world-class cybersecurity teams from countries including the United States, Poland, Japan and China to get hands-on learning experience and networking opportunities.

The 2019 Real World International Cybersecurity CTF competition, titled "Hack the Real", was held by cybersecurity startup Chaitin Tech, with the bonus pool purse set for 500 million yuan.

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, allowed these technologically skilled participants to break into the protected systems and networks of its products to test and asses their security and reliability. All participants are white hat hackers who use their skills to identify security vulnerabilities in hardware, software or networks.
