Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the German writer and statesman, once said, "If the eyes were not sun-like, how could we perceive the light?"

This quote was printed on a new design of red table lamps based on collaboration between UCCA Lab, a department of the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, and Jya a Tianjin-based design brand of household appliances.

The design, recently unveiled at the center's location inside the 798 art district, features an elongated, cylindrical form to convey a minimalist spirit and to provide users a private, focused experience under light.

The new lamps made a debut as part of Insight and Vision, an art project jointly presented by UCCA Lab and Jya, being displayed along with other designs of the brand, including its Rouge Tomato Limited lamps.

The cross-disciplinary art project also shows through Friday sculptures, architectural designs and music that inform visitors of the forms of art existing everywhere in day-to-day life.
