Environmental protection

A reconstruction project for clean heating has been accomplished in about 7 million households in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding areas, as well as the Fenhe and Weihe River Basin. The country also is moving toward ultra-low emission transformation in the steel industry.

China has made steady progress in Yangtze River conservation and restoration. By mid-October this year, 3,515 environmental problems in water sources had been solved in 20 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps at and above the county level, a 97 percent completion rate of the overall goal.
