Village hard at work making Spring Festival lanterns

Each family workshop in the village can make as many as 7,000 lanterns in a day during peak times such as Spring Festival, when according to Chinese tradition, families or hotels hang lanterns at gates as a way of celebrating the new year.

Last year, the village produced 200 million lanterns. Some were exported to over 10 foreign countries, including Russia, South Korea and Japan, according to Su Zhenguo, the village's Party chief.
