Students who are home for winter vacation are barred from returning to schools without permission, and all nonessential personnel must avoid campuses to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus at schools, Minister of Education Chen Baosheng said on Friday.

All teachers and students should have their identities and body temperatures checked before entering campus, and people showing symptoms of fever or cough should be put under medical quarantine, Chen said during a video conference.

Those who disobey such rules will be dealt with seriously, he said.

Schools should find out where each student is located and their health condition, Chen said.

They should keep close communication with all students and offer them academic guidance and psychological help, he added.
