Li Qing'e and Hu Xiang, a married couple in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, were excited to take their newborn daughter from hospital after the family of three had been separated for 24 days due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Li tested positive for the virus on March 7 when she underwent prenatal checkups while accompanied by her husband Hu.

At 5:22 pm, Li gave birth to a baby girl at Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus, a designated hospital for coronavirus patients. The baby was nicknamed "Xiao Qi'e" in advance, which means little penguin.

Only after a short visit with her mother, the baby was handed to her father waiting outside the operating room. For the safety of the family, the father had to immediately bring his newborn daughter to Wuhan Children's Hospital for quarantine and medical observation via ambulance.
