Councils across England to receive an extra £1.6bn

During the UK's daily COVID-19 media briefing on Saturday, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick announced that an additional £1.6bn is being made available to help councils cope with increased pressures amid the pandemic. He also said a significant consignment of PPE is due to arrive in the UK from Turkey tomorrow, which will contain 400,000 gowns.
