Event launched to promote children's songwriting

A music event encouraging Chinese songwriters to produce more songs for children has been launched.

Supported by the pop music institute under the Chinese Musicians' Association, the event has a jury panel including singer-songwriter Ding Wei, and Hong Kong songwriter Gene Lau.

Fu Lin, renowned Chinese songwriter and chairman of the institute, has joined in as a member of the committee of the event. Fu is known for writing songs for children. One of his most famous songs is The Shell Trumpet, which Fu wrote in 1980 and has remained popular among Chinese music fans.
