Transactions in Chinese forex market drop from March to April

BEIJING - The Chinese foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pairs) recorded transactions of 16.27 trillion yuan ($2.3 trillion) in April, the country's forex regulator said.

The data is lower than the 17.36 trillion yuan in March, data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange showed.

Specifically, the transaction volume of the bank-to-customer market was 2.48 trillion yuan; the transaction volume of the interbank market was 13.79 trillion yuan; the cumulative transaction volume of the spot market was 5.77 trillion yuan and that of the derivatives market was 10.5 trillion yuan.

From January to April, a total of 59.29 trillion yuan was traded in the Chinese foreign exchange market.
