Beijing Winter Olympics solicits public art works

Public art works solicitation for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and Winter Paralympic Games is underway, inviting artists from all over the world to embody the concept of Winter Olympics in artistic language and jointly create the Olympic cultural heritage with a solicitation period until October 15, 2020.

According to Beijing Winter Olympics organizers, the 10 best art works from the event will be permanently placed in core positions at the Winter Olympic arenas.

The public art works solicitation is mainly in the form of sculpture, advocating the design of novel modeling and application of new material technology.

After October 15, 2020, the organizing committee will invite experts and judges to select 100 shortlisted awards and 20 nominated awards. The 20 nominated awards will be produced in formal samples for public display, and the 10 best solutions will be voted for online by the public.

The 10 best plans selected from the event will be permanently placed in core positions of the national speed skating hall, the main entrance square of Yanqing competition area, and the Zhangjiakou award plaza, which together with the competition venues will form an important cultural heritage of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Organizers also strive to make the global solicitation a bridge between artists and international art platforms with an international perspective and thinking.
