Young scores 74 in Nanjing's loss, Beijing win 6th straight

QINGDAO, China - Joseph Young scored 74 points and broke the personal scoring record in one game, but his Nanjing Monkey Kings still lost to the Shandong Heroes 125-110 during the 2019-20 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Monday.

Young marked the third-highest personal single-game scoring show in CBA history. The record belongs to former Zhejiang Golden Bull's Errick McCollum, who scored 82 points in 2015.

"It is not about my career-high, and it is about my team. I want the young guys to come out and be more focused, and this is gonna be my job," said Young after the game.

Besides Young, Li Borun added 10 points for Nanjing and Li Hongpeng finished with nine points.

Five players scored in double digits for Shandong, as Chen Peidong got a team-high 28 points, Zhu Rongzhen had 24 points, Li Jingyu contributed 18 points and Tao Hanlin collected 16 points.

Beijing Ducks harvested the sixth straight victory after beating Shanxi Loongs 111-91, thanks to Jeremy Lin's game-high 29 points.

Lin scored nine points to inspire Beijing to a 22-8 lead after the tip-off. The deficit was once trimmed down to seven points in the final quarter, but Beijing managed to broaden the gap to 17 and sealed the victory.

The win keeps Beijing on the third place of the CBA standings.

Besides Lin, Udoh had 21 for Beijing, and Zhai Xiaochuan finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Elsewhere, O. J. Mayo got 31 points, five rebounds and six assists to help the Liaoning Flying Leopards defeat the Tianjin Pioneers 133-78, Xinjiang Flying Tigers hammered Shenzhen Aviators 122-86, Jiangsu Dragons overwhelmed Qingdao Eagles 114-85.
