BEIJING -- Chinese police have cracked 101,000 cases of telecom fraud and captured 92,000 suspects during their "Cloud Sword 2020" operation launched in April, the Ministry of Public Security said on Thursday.
Both figures marked year-on-year increases of more than 70 percent, said the ministry.
The operation focuses on combating fraudulent acts, in particular telecom scams, and tackling unsolved homicide cases.
During the campaign, the police also busted more than 290 groups for scams under the pretext of "unfreezing national assets," capturing over 3,600 suspects.
More than 2,600 homicide cases were solved, and 2,200 fugitives were arrested, the ministry added.
