Sichuan Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve, Baoxing county: At Dengchigou Valley in the nature reserve, there is a 200-year-old, all-wooden Catholic church with a fusion of Sichuan vernacular and Western Gothic architectural styles. It was once the residence of Armand David, the French missionary who first discovered the giant panda. The Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve Museum documents the stories of the giant panda's journey from here to the world. Bao Bao and Juan Juan -- the parents of Yuan Jing, the world’s first giant panda born through captive breeding programs -- are wild pandas from Baoxing.
