Despite the US government's intensified crackdown, Huawei Technologies Co will continue its push to apply cutting-edge technologies to more industries and help businesses and governments embrace digital transformation, a senior company official said on Wednesday.

Guo Ping, rotating chairman of Huawei, said the Chinese tech giant is still assessing the specific impacts of Washington's latest chip curbs which took effect earlier this month, and Huawei is working hard for survival.

"We will spare no efforts to help our supply chain partners. Helping them is helping ourselves," Guo said.

The senior executive used a quote from Alexandre Dumas to describe the company's state – "All human wisdom is contained in these two words—'Wait and Hope.'"

Guo made the remarks at Huawei Connect 2020, an annual flagship event hosted by Huawei for the global information and communication technology industry.

At the event, Guo said: "As more and more governments and enterprises go digital and embrace intelligence, the ICT sector will see incredible potential for growth. We look forward to opening this new chapter together with our partners."

Guo shared Huawei's leading practices in helping build smart enterprises, campuses and cities by integrating ICT technology with industrial know-how and providing scenario-specific solutions to create value for governments and enterprises in regard to their major business systems. In the next phase, Huawei will work with its partners to apply ICT technologies to industries, helping enterprises grow their businesses and helping governments achieve their strategic goals of boosting domestic industry, benefiting their constituents and improving overall governance.

Huawei will keep investing in key business domains, including network, computing, cloud service and artificial intelligence, Guo said.

According to him, connectivity, computing, cloud and AI are like electricity 100 years ago, whereas industry applications are like home appliances and industrial equipment powered by electricity. Huawei believes synergy across these tech domains will not only bring Huawei opportunities, but create value for the entire sector.
